Beyond Words

Release Date: September 1, 2016

I am extremely excited to share this new album, Beyond Words.

This collection of original compositions for piano spans nearly thirty years of my life.

Each song captures a moment of time, a memory, an emotion, a hope, a desire.

As a shy kid growing up, words often failed me. Music has always been, quite simply,
the easiest language for me to communicate my innermost thoughts.

I'm incredibly grateful for this life I have been given.

I'm grateful for my family and friends who continue to believe with me
that music has the power to heal and to inspire.

Grateful...beyond words.
Here is some of the background on each
of the tracks for
Beyond Words...

Awakening
was composed on August 27, 2010.
It represents that exact moment in time when you suddenly
remember someone (or something) from earlier in life, perhaps childhood...
and the strong emotions once felt are still very much here.

Joyful Morning was composed on August 21, 2010.
Imagine children, without a care in the world, having the time of
their young lives while jumping and playing in rain puddles.

Healing Waters was composed as a piano improvisation in the
studio on June 17, 2016. The gentle waves of the seashore have
always brought me peace.

Crossroads was composed on February 12, 2001. Life's journey is
not without questions and paths to choose.

Shelton Rain was a piano improvisation
originally recorded in 1987 during a rainstorm in Shelton, WA.
It was first released on one of my Contemporary Christian
albums in the 1980s.

Tears of Angels was composed as a piano improvisation on
June 16, 2016, in memory of those shot and killed at Pulse nightclub
in Orlando on June 12, 2016. Captured by Dave Heneberry on video,
the original improvisation was posted to YouTube on June 22, 2016,
and can be viewed HERE. Initially, all profits from the sale of Tears of Angels
were donated to the OneOrlando Fund. The OneOrlando Fund,
committed to providing 100% of all money being raised directly to victims'
families and survivors, raised more than $29 million by the end of 2016.
OneOrlando Fund has distributed 98% of those funds among 299 eligible claims
filed. The remainder of the funds will be distributed among a final six eligible claims.
Given that OneOrlando Fund is no longer accepting donations,
all proceeds from the sale of "Tears of Angels" will now be donated to
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center of Central Florida.
More information about the Center can be found HERE.

Love is Love was composed on July 14, 2003. Written well before
marriage equality became law here in the United States, this love
theme was created in hopes that one day, all would indeed have the
right to marry whomever they loved.

Falling Forward was composed as a piano improvisation and posted to
YouTube on January 9, 2014. The original improvisation can be viewed HERE.
It represents those times we face obstacles, when the only steps to take
are forward...and the inevitability (and willingness) to fall forward in the process.

Lazy Sky Afternoon was composed as a piano improvisation in the
studio on June 10, 2016. Many of us as children (and some of us,
now as adults) have lain on the earth's ground and looked to the sky,
and daydreamed through the afternoon.

Kal-Boy was composed as a piano improvisation in memory of our
20-year-old cat, Kal, who crossed the rainbow bridge on
August 11, 2015. Its recurring melodic motif ("sol-mi" in solfège)
represents the same tones to which, when used to call "Kal-Boy,"
Kal would come running, no matter where he was in the house.
The original improvisation posted to YouTube on August 31, 2015
can be viewed HERE.

Heroes was composed as a piano improvisation and posted to
YouTube on January 7, 2014. The original improvisation can be
viewed HERE. Its opening fanfare announces its dedication
to all who have lived to serve and protect others.

Country Harvest was composed as a piano improvisation and posted
to YouTube on January 10, 2014. The original improvisation can
be viewed HERE. It was inspired by memories I have from my
childhood, working to harvest crops on an Oregon farm in the summertime.

An Evening in Florence was composed as a piano improvisation
during a concert in Florence, OR, on August 1, 2014. It is dedicated
with love and thanks to Kathy and Carol Parsons. The original
improvisation was posted to YouTube on November 4, 2014 and
can be viewed HERE.

Lullaby for Peace was composed as a piano improvisation in the
studio on June 10, 2016. It is dedicated with love to my parents,
Gerald and Margaret Chadburn.
